Earth is pretty important to everyone, yet we consume and waste everything from the sea life to the oil reserves to get individual gain. We have habitats being destroyed all over the world. I understand that and agree we should all do everything we can to minimize/stop it from happening. Look up the “plastic sargasso” on Google for the biggest example. This is pitiful, come on guys, can’t we just find a use for all that plastic? Mine it and recycle it or something…

However, this is a different issue altogether. That we have been altering our atmosphere since the early industrial age (some say the stone age) and that the rise in C02 will catastrophically thrust us into a runaway global warming…well, I argue that between the levels C02 produced by the oceans, decaying vegetation on land, and volcanoes erupting over the last 50k years, humans cannot have been much of a contributor, let alone the cause. The climatic record bears this out. Every rise in C02 in the past has been the result of, rather than the cause of, the warming of the planet. It almost always slips into an ice age after that point.

The only connection this subject has to this site is that it may actually be a conspiracy by whoever has an interest in lots of people buying their green products, while the govt./or a shadow govt. makes laws to restrict our freedoms and privacies, modify our preferences away from fossil fuels, and force us to use less energy. They are working in a collusion of some sort. I become more convinced that its mostly window dressing to hide an agenda as the recent Climate-Gate Controversy and the similar one with NASA show. We even have Hollywood threatening to take Al Gore’s  Oscar back.

I want to use data to back up my opinions, however few of the charted graphs offer either a calibrated scale of time vs Co2 or go back far enough to correlate to the last time the Earth was in a similar state, such as the last ice age. Take the Reconstructed Temperature graph below. Only goes to 0BC. Is this what we are using to prove global warming? What does “reconstructed temperature mean?

OK, this one is a bit better. It shows that as early as 10,000 years ago, (end of the last Ice Age) there was more C02 in the air than now. But since this was designed to show how temperature rise begins before CO2 increases, it actually goes a bit toward debunking the opposite. What came first? the temperature rise, or the CO2? Modern Warming advocates claim that the increase in CO2 contributed by our human lifestyle such as manufacturing, mining, and driving will cause a corresponding temperature rise. Well, if you look at the table above to see that the temperature has gone up, you would assume that’s the proof of it.

Not so! It has actually been cooler now that the sunspots have started again.

if temperature rise causes an increase in CO2 as the table below points out, then we must look somewhere else for the temperature rise. Oh, what temperature rise? It turns out that the data used to substantiate the temperature rise “may have been” been scrapped-  http://online.wsj.com/article/SB125883405294859215.html? –so that the results may be homogenized for public consumption.

Now here is one that also shows CO2 correlated to ice ages. However, it shows a different concentration of CO2 than the previous one which shows about 210 ppmv, while this one asserts that we have nearly 380 ppmv due to the industrial revolution. Why is this so different? Data from US Dept of Commerce Global Monitoring site shows about 385 ppmv. If the assertion that Co2 leads temperature is correct, this is a concern. However, the data shows that temperature rise has always led Co2 concentration (not the other way around).  So the real question is, does this spike in CO2 result in a net effect on global temperature, and if so, can the Earth absorb this Co2 slow enough to stave off the next ice age, yet fast enough to stop a runaway warming. That is the question I cannot get answered without the answer being soaked in the popular view that we are all going to be cooked and flooded by the inevitable ocean rise.

We are also coming out of a solar minimum which (if you correlate it to the temperatures at the time) may show why things have been warming up. Notice how the Maunder minumum lasts until 1750 or so and the corresponding maximum thereafter corresponds to the Revolutionary war period in which we all know there was a very cold period. Now look at the dips vs the rises in the data and compare them with the current minimum. It should have gotten warmer, right?

Methane is CH4 (1carbon & 4hydrogen) while Carbon Dioxide is CO2 (1carbon & 2oxygen). At another level:
Methane is a by product of animal life through anaerobic processes (flatulence and fermentation) and by decaying swamps. There are huge amount in the earth’s crust. In sunlight, in the presence of oxygen, it decays over decades into C02 and water. Methane traps about 20 times the amount of heat as C02. The oceans give off methane too.

Carbon Dioxide is used by plants for photosynthesis which carbon (the plant) and oxygen. In the presence of artificially high C02, plants grow faster and larger and produce Oxygen at a faster rate. When they die, the decay produces methane (which gradually turns to C02) and C02. See this article.

500,000,000 (500 million) years ago carbon dioxide was 20 times more more than today, and 4–5 times what it is today during the Jurassic period and then slowly declining with a lot of reduction 49 million years ago. That time coincides with the point in time that the Earth was totally frozen over as a total ice planet. Since then, the Earth has seesawed between warm and cold periods. We are now in a warm period, heading toward a cold one as demonstrated by the high concentration of C02 (again, high concentrations of C02 have typically been the result of the warm periods, not led to them). Now mankind seems to be adding to the C02 and slightly delaying the inevitable and giving us some time, but eventually we will slip into another ice age.

Drought is the result of the weather patterns changing. Plants and trees need water, nitrogen, and C02 to thrive. 3rd world countries using slash and burn techniques on rainforests render the soil infertile (I agree this is bad). If that happens to be in an area where drought occurs (or causes it), thats even worse. Meanwhile, other parts of the world are getting MORE rain, some too much. Take the Mississipi valley. Too much rain and all the runoff is creating a dead zone in the gulf of Mexico. In Southern California, we have drought without the soil going infertile and the scrub is growing at such an incredible rate thanks to the increase in CO2 that we are having fires every 3–5 years when it used to be only every 20 years. Again, I do not disagree with the concept of Climate Change. What I disagree on is the notion that a) humans are the sole reason for it, and b)humans could conceivably fix the overall problem, and c) that we are headed for a net global warming.

Hey, either way is fine with me. We can either grow oranges in Alaska (warming), or rainforests in the southwest (ice age) It will just require some of us to move around the earth to compensate for what the earth does anyway.

I am Anu. When I was born, my father had a dream in which the ancient Archons instructed him in the ways of the universe. My father was shown an insect web that started as one strand and expanded into billions. Then after a time, the billions contracted back into a single strand. Then my father looked to see a child clinging to the end of the web. My father believed that I was the child in his dream and that I was destined to bear all the knowledge of my people the Annunaki to those who came after. He decided that I should be named Anu, which means the knowledge of Anuk, our home star system. My father had thus chosen my purpose as the keeper of the collected knowledge of the Annunaki. When I was young, My father repeated his story to me once every year on the day of the summer solstice of your planet.

Long ago, when the Annunaki race was young, parents would choose the destiny of their children. This was the old tradition. Then over the years, we discovered that many choices were badly made out of pride or greed; preventing their children from realizing the full potential of joy that would come from making their own choice. This is why the caste system was invented to allow the young to choose their destiny within a framework of Annunaki tradition. All knowledge was taught during the first millenium of life. When the time came to choose, it became a question for the youth rather than the parents.

I follow my own wishes and also those of my Father, who chose the Builder caste. When I came of age, I joined the Judges caste, a choice which did not prevent me from compiling this history from which you read. As a member of the Judges caste, I have access to records of many races along with the wisdom of the Annunaki. This gave me the power to pursue my interests. It was through my own cunning political positioning that I gained the advantage that allowed me the technology to preserve these records in a form that would be untouched by time.

Sadly, we are now too few to openly rule over you. Since the war in the heavens and the destruction of Aleph along with most of my people, which I will later describe to you in more detail, we now seek to keep ourselves apart from you, and to watch as your civilization progresses. We have a part in your history, as you will soon know, but we did not create you. We do not have that power. Be it an injustice or not, we lay this responsibility at the feet of the Archons. They created us and also you, along with every other sentient in the galaxy. Of all these beings created by the Archons, some of them are kind and some are terrible. Only distance keeps us from becoming too familiar with these other races.

I have recently come to a realization of the purpose of the records that I keep. Not so much for my people do I write, but to you, our accidental ward, the Hu-man. There will come a time when you will open your eyes to the galaxy around you. There are many others in this galaxy who may intrigue you, If you are not wise they may destroy you, either by intentional malice or by accident, through carelessness of their powers. Take heed of these records and learn all that you can. Only much knowledge and wisdom can save you from destruction.

No, we did not create your kind, but we used our power over life to change you to our needs. Some Annunaki are not proud of this. What we did was done to preserve our society as you will see as my story is told.

But I must stop now to speak the first things first. It is an awesome responsibility that the Great Creator gives me strength to perform. I perform it now, and thus I begin at the first single strand.

Ancient Annunaki history tells of the Archons who are a race of gods who came from outside our galaxy, who have no beginning of time nor end of days, and who engineer sentient life throughout the known universe. The Archons are of one mind with the Great Creator and were given the task of preparing the soil and sowing the seed for a galaxy of life. Thus they came to this solar system to create life on earth just as they have on many previous star systems, including the home planet of my race, Anuk. These powerful beings are said to have the capacity to alter the structure of the very galaxy and move freely between six dimensions of reality to accomplish their tasks. To the Archons, time is only a distance that may be journeyed in many different directions.

Our knowledge of the Archons comes both from ancient Annunaki history and from our archaeological data collections. We only know the basics of the mechanisms used in the Archon’s creation process. This data can be found along with the other collected knowledge of the Annunaki in any one of the three halls of record here on Earth. Two of these halls are well hidden beneath ancient ruins of my people which are known to you, while the third is beneath the waves. The receptacles of this knowledge are mineral crystals that have a lifetime exceeding millions of years and can be read by the tuning of light to the correct vibration rate.

The Archons left a group of architects to direct the evolution of life on this planet. After building basic foundation species such as viruses, bacteria, invertebrates, and plants, then later vertebrates, saurians, and some minor warm-blooded creatures, some of which showed promise as potential sentients, they sent various trials to test their creation.

One adversity was a comet that slammed into the western hemisphere. This comet brought with it enough water to raise the ocean levels by several feet. It ruptured the Earth’s crust sufficiently to start the continents drifting apart and because of the dust that was raised, cooled the planet surface considerably.
While monitoring from a distance, they noticed how most of the saurian species died off. They discovered that certain mammal species survived the blast because of their ability to hide underground and adapt to the changing circumstances. This was the development that they had been waiting for.

The Archon’s sentient development project continued in earnest. Adding genetic information that is common to all of their creations throughout the galaxy, they developed several species of ground walking bipedal beings capable of independent creative thought. The next phase was to choose which of the various varieties were worthy to integrate the spark of self awareness. This choice must be made carefully and by further trial, lest inferiors become the foundation of the resulting sentient race.

The adversity program brought a population of a little more than a million beings down to only 250 thousand of the smartest and most adaptable among them. This was profound progress, but they did not stop there. The remaining creatures were tested for the proper combinations of genetic foundation, strength, and creative spark. Less than eight thousand of this race of chosen people were allowed to continue. These are your early ancestors. The rest were hunted to extinction. Meanwhile, a more primitive race of beings was left alongside to provide competition for the chosen people.

The chosen people were placed in a protected breeding facility located in the center of what is now called the continent of Africa, where they were selectively interbred and culled for a period of approximately 10,000 years. During this time, the spark of spiritual awareness was introduced to the gene pool and they were treated to a program of relative ease. Why this is so, we have yet to determine, we only know that there was a desire to eliminate cruel and warlike behavior without sacrificing strength and survival instinct.

This program was concluded by scattering the resulting population to all areas of the planet, carefully picking out sites where they would flourish. After a period of observation, the Archons, being convinced of their success, departed never to return.

Thousands of years later, in the year you now call 166,230 BCE, we the Annunaki came as colonists from Anuk, a collection of six planets moving around our suns. Our system of 3 suns is very nearby, and it took only 20 of your years to travel to your system. Your astronomers call it Alpha Centauri. Our home planets are more massive than yours, so naturally we are larger, stronger, and faster than you. Alas, If only that had been enough to ensure our survival.

The Annunaki have a lifespan of up to 5,000 years because our knowledge of the structure of life allowed us to eliminate any flaw that makes us age. We have the ability to communicate using our thoughts. Some of us have learned to move and shape objects, to look deep into the forces of nature, manipulating the elements to create objects of sustenance and convenience, while others learn to affect the structure of life, to genetically enhance it to improve ourselves and those that we use to do our heavy work and repetitive tasks. That which you may call magic is merely technology that you do not yet understand.

We colonized the fourth planet in your system we called Aleph, because it had large concentrations of the element Mercury. We used it to power our spacecraft. Aleph’s powerful magnetic fields were also used to energize our technology and so we made this planet the home base of our conquests. Eventually, the planet was crisscrossed with Annunaki roads and cities. Sadly, all that is now left of this world is lifeless rubble, floating along the orbit Aleph formerly travelled around the sun. But I get ahead of my story.

It was inevitable that we would come to survey the planet you now call Earth. Life was abundant and the temptation too strong for our people to resist the opportunity for exploration. Hu-men were only savages, divided into two races. Yet you did not fight amongst yourselves like you do now, nor did you challenge the territory of the other race you now call Neandertal. Your cooperation with others was curious and strange. Never had we seen beings that had been so precisely engineered by the Archons to be strong and peaceful at the same time. You were the perfect choice to replace the numbers of our dwindling Worker caste, until the Sons of Darkness decided to change things…

The dust soared upward as the ship settled on the valley floor. The occupants waited, knowing that to leave too quickly would subject them to quicksilver fumes and the madness that results for those who breathe them. Marduk hated having to use this rickety old ship, but was also grateful to have it. The Sargon was one of the few surviving craft left after the deluge caused by the destruction of Aleph. This old Seraphim freighter had been one of the first cargo vessels designed to shuttle gold ore between the planets. Now with technology scarce and no infrastructure left to build new ships, he would have to be content to fly in this old decaying Vimana. He looked over at his crew, an exausted group of Igigi and discontented young Nephilim who had come from survival shelters all over the planet. The rest had chosen to remain mired in technological poverty, scattered across the continents, rather than to dare oppose Lord Enlil, who was now in posession of the Raft of Heaven and most decidedly to blame for this current state of affairs. After all, had he not been a supporter of the Sons of Darkness?

Despite the fact that Enlil controls the Raft, which is the largest bit of technology fortunate enough to survive, he’s missing a crucial item that would allow him to make full use of it’s power…the Tablet of Destinies, which contains the sum of all Annunaki technology in it’s crystal lattice memory. Only one such tablet is allowed to exist in any star system, and belongs to the Lord of the system. This one was rightfully the property of Enlil, lord of the Ersetu and Waters.

Had the Tablet of Destinies remained in the hands of the Grand Council, it would have been destroyed along with Aleph and most of the Annunaki civilization during the accidental cataclysm five hundred years ago. Yet he, Marduk, counted himself fortunate that he had stolen the tablet in an attempt to end the war in the heavens between his uncle Enlil and his father Enki. This was a war of birthright, which can never be contested. In the end however, one foolish bid to control the quantum gate built to travel between worlds, means Aleph his home is now lost and there is nothing left but to use the knowledge stored in the Tablet to rebuild the empire for his father.

Marduk thought about what his father had accomplished since the disaster. Father Enki was not to be defeated. He had spent the last few centuries living with his creation the hu-men, teaching them and building a thriving economy of more than forty-four thousand people in the land of the great Nile river.

These hu-men are all children of the survivors of the cataclysm. It had always amazed Marduk how loyal and hard working these people could be, given the right motivations. They had rallied their support readily to Enki, as he was a kind god, and quite literally their creator. His goal is nothing short of the rebuilding of the Annunaki empire in his own image, if only he can take the Raft of Heaven from Enlil by force, claim Enlil as a false god, and strip him of all his technology to live as a vagabond nomad in a yakhide tent, doomed to roam the desert lands for the rest of his days.

Unfortunately, Enlil orbits the world on the Raft, while Enki is bound to Ersetu by the mocking pull of gravity. One miserable old Vimana would not even scratch the surface of the assault that must be waged to unseat Enlil in all his stolen glory. If the Tablet of Destinies holds the total of technology secrets accumulated by all Annunaki before the colonization of this system, surely there is some key to unlocking the mystery of conquest?

Fresh air came rushing into the cabin immediately after the vapor alarm went dark. The six crew members stirred and started removing safety straps, atmosphere helmets, and suits from their bodies. Marduk looked over to see Semiramis, his best Igigi technician, carefully preparing the ship for it’s next journey by checking dials and adjusting coolant levers.

“I am surprised that you take this journey so eagerly” said Marduk with a confused frown. “You could have lived in comfort on the Raft, to serve Lord Enlil.”

Her face quickly turned from the focused expression of work to the grimace of anger. “Do not speak of him” she spat, “I respect his authority no longer than the time he gave my husband to escape the blast.”

“Ah… He betrayed your husband’s life to save his own. That is reason enough. But I sense there is more to this story.” Marduk smiled kindly and tried to look into her eyes.

Semiramis looked up at Marduk, tears of pain welling up. “Bel! Please!” then looking back down at her work, “I am Annunaki. Enlil has betrayed us all! Otherwise, I would never have left the Raft of Heaven and come to seek you. Surely you understand?”

“Yes, but surely one such as you would be missed. Enlil has need of trained pilots and engineers to rebuild. And then there is the matter of your husband.”

“I left in shame. It is custom to accept the burdens of a spouse, my husband failed. Thus did I in the eyes of Enlil.”

Marduk was surprised to be addressed as Lord (Bel) by a fellow Annunaki. He knew she had given the truth, but not yet all of it. He did not persist. “Of course. The Sons of Darkness have done enough to spoil our lives. They had even persuaded Lord Enlil to join their selfish quest. Thank the Archons that we were not all destroyed when they committed their mistakes to history.”

“Yes. Thank the Archons.” She had regained her composure, hoping that Marduk would not pry further. He didn’t, so she changed the subject. “What do you know of Nimrud?”

Marduk relaxed. He had not meant to inflict pain and was glad to follow her lead. “Though he is of strong blood. His loyalties lie with himself and it may be difficult to get him to follow our plans. All he desires is conquest. He has taken five cities, but rests now because his borders grow too distant.”

“Then maybe we can steer him to larger and more deserving prey if he but readies his armies for a season.” On her face was a growing smile hinting of deep thought. “I think I could provide toys to amuse him while he gathers his strength.”

Marduk nodded. “Of course he wants to have more power over his armies. unfortunately, even though some of his generals are Nephilim, others and most of his warriors are hu-men, with their own selfish desires of greatness and conquest; I expect they are too disorganized and uncontrollable to afford a victory over Enlil, even on a level battlefield with little technology.”

Marduk paused a moment, then mused:

“Enlil has told me of something described in the Tablet that can give us the advantage we need to take the Raft of Heaven.”

“Yes, but I do not understand how we can get into orbit to attack the Raft?”

“I do not posess that answer, but Lord Enki has a plan he has not yet explained to me. He claims to know of a method that requires the use of only one ship. I have searched the Tablet, but have not found such a thing.”

They exchanged thoughtful looks as a crew member announced that a group of warriors riding camels had topped the hill near the city. The party milled about, uncertain as to whether to approach the vimana or to turn back and report the strange thing sitting on the valley floor. After a few minutes, they separated; one group held ground, while the other rode back to the city at top speed.

“We should show ourselves.” Marduk decided. “Nimrud will be along soon.”

Nimrud awoke to the sound of trumpets. “Strange”, he thought. “There are no campaigns or festivals planned. What could be so important. War trumpets were sounded only when enemies attacked or…Visitors! I hope it isn’t Enlil again.”

He pulled himself out of his bedstead and limped to his wardrobe. His muscles ached to be left alone. “This was the price of success? To grow old without an heir at the height of his kingdom?” He knew he couldn’t turn back time, but at least he could produce an heir before these old bones became completely useless. Unfortunately, It was not likely that he had inherited an extremely long life from his father Cush. Instead, it was fairly certain that he was destined to grow old and die nearly as quickly as the hu-men do. Fortunately, This would take many more years, since Nimrud was past his first hundred years and still feeling strong. A mere hu-man had less than a century before he would be gone and forgotten.

He pulled his garments on around him and headed for the stables, motioning to his servants to attend him and assemble his guard. “We must meet them before they approach.” He said to his nodding servants.

By the time the crew of the Sargon had disembarked, the morning sun drenched the valley in golden light. A throng of villagers had assembled on the rise, curious and fearful that the flying ship hadt brought rouble. They murmured among themselves, speculating as to whether this was a good thing or not for Babylon. Occasionally, one of the villagers would scold the others in hissing tones and a shaking head. Marduk guessed that there was disagreement among them as to whether his ship was sent from the gods or if they may all be Djins, demons sent by Enlil to torture the city for some wrongdoing.

The crowd parted as a solemn procession of warriors and priests came nearer the ship. As they assembled, they spread out around Marduk’s crew, being careful not to come any closer than a few cubits away. As the last of the priests assembled, a very heavily laden camel was led by another, more colorful camel with a large man on it’s back. The man was dressed in bronze armor with a spiked helmet on his head. The lead camel strode to within a pace of Marduk and stopped. A tense silence followed as Marduk and the man regarded each other. The rider was the first to break the silence.

“Who are you and what is it you want in Babylon?” This bold question was met with some noisy confusion among the villagers who immediately began to discuss and gesture. Some even fell to their knees, frightened by his tone of voice to the outsiders. Despite asking the question aloud, the rider remained friendly, but suddenly turned a stony stare to the crowd that had gathered. “Silence!” He commanded. The crowd did indeed fall silent but continued to show expectant fear on their faces toward the newcomers. The temple priests echoed the same facial expressions while the warriors showed no emotion. “Now go away and stand vigil over my affairs from a distance”. At that, the priests were visibly shaken as they and the throng wandered away, looking over their shoulders in bewilderment. The guards only moved a bit further away and turned to stand between their lord and the now more distant onlookers.

Marduk glanced at Semiramis, then back at the rest of his crew, then opened his mouth to speak. “I greet you in the name of Marduk, son of Enki, and I come to hold counsel with the great hunter Nimrud.”

A broad smile spread on the rider’s face as he dismounted and strode up to Marduk. “It has been long, cousin. What of your father?”

Marduk smiled back, “He is well, despite Enlil’s many attempts to hinder him. And you have fared well with what fortune has left you.” as he extended his hand and gestured to the city and to the crowd of people and with a flourish, out to the North as if to include the cities of UR and Eridu in his pronouncement.

“I hunt hu-men and conquer their cities. Then, I combine my cities in trade and commerce to build great works in my name.” Nimrud gleamed with pride as he pointed to the city in the distance. “Lately, there are so few left unconquered that I have taken the task of tracking the wild beasts that torment my people; and in gratitude, they serve me with fervor.”

“You have indeed increased your talents. How fare you with lord Enlil?”

“He leaves me in peace. He has no use for hu-men, but does what he can to entice the Nephilim to aid his cause. Two of my best generals have gone to serve him, but I serve myself and that does not please him.” Nimrud confessed.

“I come to offer aid in return for yours. Does this interest you?” Marduk smiled, confident that what he had to offer would be greedily accepted.

“I have conquered cities at my whim. None have yet opposed me and I rule everything within weeks’ ride in any direction. What could you offer?”

Marduk’s party shifted their positions as Semiramis stepped forward. Marduk nodded to her.

She spoke with little hesitation, like she had rehearsed her part. “A great king such as you must have a long life and powerful weapons with which to smite his enemies. Lord Marduk can offer secrets that were used by the gods a thousand years ago.”

Nimrud’s face became impassive, almost smirking, he gestured to the Vimana. “And what could I possibly do for you in return, that you cannot already do for…yourselves?”

Marduk smiled. “you have fierce warriors; unattached to Enlil, to start with… Is there somewhere else we can discuss this? or shall we stand in the hot sun?”

Nimruds expression immediately changed to embarrassment “…And my hospitality is amiss! Bring me camels and shade!” He clapped loudly as his attendants jumped to fulfill his commands.

Before long, five camels, complete with carpet saddles and protruding sunshades appeared and Marduk’s crew was beckoned to embark for the privacy and comfort of Nimrud’s palace.

The palace did not particularly impress Marduk at first sight. However, he considered that Nimrud was a hunter and warrior, rather than a reclining monarch with soft unblemished hands and little to do. There will be time enough for him to enjoy the splendor of true kingship once Enlil is properly deposed. Then, would he expect to give the King control of the whole region from the lesser sea to the cypress forests, while Marduk himself would be king of the Nile valley from the great sea to the mountain jungles.

Marduk looked around. It was simple to locate all six of his own people among Nimrud’s hu-men attendants, who were much shorter in stature than the Nephilim. Marduk was taller than any of them, except possibly Nimrud, who also towered above the others as he entered the room.

Nimrud shushed and waved his hands as the attendants vanished into the tapestries on the wall. “There will be a feast in your honor. My people will sacrifice a bull and present it to their gods as we negotiate our future conquest. Please relax and refresh from your journey.” He indicated expectantly to one side of the room where servants were holding tapestries open for entrance into the bath hall.

Marduk hung back as Semiramis led the group through the curtains. He noticed Nimrud’s eyes following her intently as she dissapeared from view. “She is handsome?” this was spoken more as a statement than a question. “She leads my crew and is the most talented technician I have seen in centuries.” Then he changed the subject. “Shall we discuss some things now while we are alone and leave the details to the feast?”

“You want manpower. I have warriors, some Nephilim, but the rest are mostly hu-men, all unlearned in the ways of the Igigi. The rest are simple farmers and rough artisans. What can they offer you?” mused Nimrud.

“I want you to build a tower”. Said Marduk. “One that will reach the heavens. And when it is complete, we will send your warriors to snatch the very Raft of Heaven from the grasp of Enlil, for the glory of Enki.” Marduk paused, he knew that the whole plan would hinge on Nimrud’s reaction.

“Our craftsmen are not advanced enough to undertake such a work. It would cost gold and goods to even get them to try.” Nimrud was openly skeptical now.

“That is one reason why Enlil would not oppose your efforts. Though he does not honor you, he also does not demand your loyalty, nor does he tax your people. You are free to build your kingdom as long as he does not know that Lord Enki supports your cause, or you his. I will send craftsmen from Egypt to teach your people. They will bring gold to spend at your bazaars. Your merchants will send caravans to Nubia where we will supply them with goods at discount. I will send fine seed and new techniques for your farmers to feed the workers. All you must do is to act as if this is all your own plan. Claim that you are building an altar to honor lord Enlil with sacrifices. Tell him that the tallest altar brings the honor closest to the gods. Tell him that when you are finished, all he need do is to pluck the sacrifice from the altar. He will think you have become wise in your old age and may even assist you to completion.”

“So you propose that this tower would reach to the heavens! I do not believe it possible. You would make a fool of me. They will say that old Nimrud has lost his sense. I will be the subject of laughter in my own palace.” Nimrud’s face now becoming red with anger.

“The tower need not reach completely to the Raft of Heaven.” Said Marduk, “It must reach only to where the air thins; a tall mountain height, yet taller than any that exists within a month’s journey. The remaining distance will be traversed by Enlil’s crew with a tether of gossamer lowered from the Raft, this tether will be used as a hoist to transport goods (and your warriors) up to the Raft of Heaven. We will smuggle the warriors as temple priests who care for the sacrifices.”

Nimrud frowned. Calm returning. “This is indeed a mad undertaking. But, if it were to succeed, we would then be in posession of the Raft of Heaven, a coveted prize for anyone.”

“For Lord Enki.” Marduk corrected, relaxing now that Nimrud was completing the puzzle on his own.

“Then what is the profit for me?” asked Nimrud, now ready to negotiate.

“The prosperity of your kingdom for one. Also, there is the knowledge you would gain along the way. Finally…” he paused just a moment to be sure he had full attention, “Some of my crew are life-code specialists. You are growing old. There are ways to double and even triple your lifespan. You could be youthful again as a result. Of course, this plan of ours could take years to accomplish anyway…”

“I have no heir.” Nimrud said carefully. “So am I to understand that I would have your handsome Igigi captain at my side?” He said this more as a request than a question.

Marduk was a bit surprised at the request, but not entirely amazed. “I will allow Semiramis that choice.” he countered, knowing that a deal had been made. “Yet I will tell you this. She is the life-code specialist of whom I speak.”

Nimrud’s grin was wide.

Marduk smiled too. “Remember cousin, our deal is held close. Secrecy is an essential ingredient of our success.” They both nodded and clasped hands. “For your feast, my name must be Melkarth. If my true identity be revealed, the word would go far and wide to rest in the ear of Enlil and confound our plans. Instead, let Semaramis be the guest of honor at your feast.”

Nimrud’s grin became wider.

As the day wore on and the shadows grew longer, the chaos in the streets gradually increased until the din became that of a bazaar at midmorning. The smell of roasting Buffalo permeated the air, punctuated by the vague texture of herbs, on the breeze that flowed into the palace window. “Melkarth”, drinking liberally from the wine vase provided by the servants, discussed the situation with Semiramis while breathing in the promise of the night’s feast.

“He seems to understand the risk.” said Semiramis carefully, hoping to coax more strategy from the increasingly drunken god, who was now dressed as a wandering sage.

“Risk.” Said Melkarth, nearly pushing over the table in front of him. “The real risk…is that Enlil will suspect revenge from you. What of that?”

“Bel, it is true that I want revenge for his conduct. Yet I did not make it known to him when I left, which is probably why he let me go…out of pity. Yet I would kill him if I had the opportunity!”

“Is your desire strong enough to allow you to give up mourning your husband’s death early, so that you may pursue a political means to revenge?”

“What does mourning have to do with politics?” Semiramis suddenly felt a little vulnerable.

“Nimrud favors you. whether we succeed or not, you could easily become his consort…”

“…And have his ear, among other things.” She finished for him. Now aware of the magnitude of the risk. “If we succeed, I could kill Enlil myself.”

Melkarth took another drink of wine and sat back to take another large breath of meaty air. “if you insist… You could actually save me some considerable effort.”

“Tell me then, oh wise father, forsooth, what kinds of gifts can one such as I offer a king that cannot be had from a common servant or daughter of a wealthy merchant?”

“Just give him what he wants. An heir worthy of a king? Stout war beasts? Use your imagination.” Melkarth, waved his hands in the air to exaggerate his point.

Melkarth arrived to the feast as late as he dared, without offending his host. As it was, Nimrud was much more interested in the lady Semiramis than in the old wandering sage, and made it abundantly clear as Melkarth presented himself and offered his “meager” services to the great king Nimrud. Eyes met, but the ruse was kept close, so when the king waved him away in disinterest, no one was the wiser. The old sage settled in amongst some of the wealthier merchants who turned a cold shoulder to his intrusion, until he started playing games of chance with the children. Eventually, they were paying Melkarth good shekels to tell their fortunes. No one was dissapointed.

Nimrod poured on the charm. Uncaring that the beautiful woman beside him could easily be four times his age. He repeatedly called for more ale and each time toasted to her beauty. Eventually, when everyone was quite drunken with babylonian beer, the King awkwardly stood up and made his announcement.

“Because of the great riches of this kingdom and my good fortune in love and war, I will open the treasuries to build such a monument to the great god Enlil that has never been built by Hu-men. The likes of which will bring us to the very heavens, so that we may worship the goodness of Enlil, and thereby guarantee the continued prosperity of our great kingdom.”

Nimrud tottered a bit in his seat as he raised a cup of newly poured beer. His attendants astonished at his animation, rushing to serve him. “I drink to the beauty of this fine lady beside me, the prosperity of our land, and the glory of Enlil, Lord Anunaki of the Earth and Air.”

By this time, the merchant who was interested in Melkarth’s story about the flood, turned away toward the throng gathered around the king and started jabbering about how bad this was for business and how unfair it was that he must be forced to choose sides and alienate his customers that followed the other gods. Soon, the whole corner of the room containing merchants was abuzz with curses and wails so much that the din overcame the musicians.

Semiramis expected anger from Nimrod, and wondered what he could do, if anything, to establish his power in this unexpected situation without alienating his own support. Instead, the drunken king strode over to the merchant and stared him in the eye. He reached down and grabbed the hilt of his sword, but thought better of drawing it. Then he said softly, so only those nearby could hear: “So what would you have me do? Spurn the graces of the most powerful, and possibly the rightful heir? He still commands the sky. They say that Enki is gone. Destroyed in the deluge, the flood that destroyed our world. We must have allies…”

“But our fortunes have fared well as it is” Said the angry and bewildered merchant. “why must we declare our loyalties and complicate things?”

Nimrod raised his voice so that all could hear. “That will be discussed tomorrow. Attend me when the sun rises. My advisors, Generals, and Merchant leaders. I will chart the course for Babylon in the morning.”  With that, he waved at the musicians to continue playing and walked shakily back his former spot next to the lady Semiramis.

“You must not tell anyone the real reason for the project” mumbled Semiramis into his ear.

“I dare not” whispered Nimrod, then he waved for more beer.

Turns out we can learn a lot from Frozen Fritz. Also called Oetzi, the iceman recovered from the Austrian alps in 1991 and has been carbon dated to 3300 b.c.e. Turns out he lived at the time of the Copper age in Europe. It is entirely possible that he is a representative of the Ozieri culture that later developed huge megalithic walls for defense against the very agressive Nuragic culture that began to take over the area in about 1600 b.c.e. His body was found 92.56 meters inside Italian territory (46°46’44?N 10°50’23?E? / ?46.77889, 10.83972).

The Ozieri carved underground structures out of the solid rock called in their legends “domus de janas” or Houses of the Fairies. These are considered graves but have long ago been looted, so there is no real evidence left of them being used otherwise. They lived as farmers and artisans, producing fine pottery, metal implements, obsidian, huge dolmen and megalithic circles such as that found in Stonehenge and Avebury. They had trade with areas all over the Mediterranean region.

They had a simple religion based on gods I recognize from other cultures all around the world: the Horned Bull and the Mother Godess.

What do we learn from him? Here is a list of the things I thought were interesting:

• High levels of Arsenic and Copper were found in his hair. This along with his copper axe which is 99.7% copper suggests that he was present, if not skilled, in copper smelting operations.
• Fingernail analysis indicates that he was quite sick at least 3 times in the last year before his death.
• His physical structure suggested that he was familiar with long walks over hilly terrain. This is not characteristic of the copper-age european of the time. Some have suggested that he was a high-altitude shepherd.
• He had tattoos over areas later determined to be arthritic. Acupuncture, mystical magic? Either way, this suggests he was part of society and had access to the latest “medical” technology.
• Other items found with the Iceman in addition to the copper axe with a yew handle, he had a flint knife with an ash handle, a quiver of 14 arrows with viburnum and dogwood shafts. Two of the arrows, which were broken, were tipped with flint and had fletching (stabilizing vents), while the other 12 were unfinished and untipped. The arrows were found in a quiver with what is presumed to be a bow string, a tool of some sort, and some antler which might have been used for making arrow points. There was also an unfinished yew longbow that was 1.82 metres (72 in) long.
• Also, among Ötzi’s possessions were berries, two birch bark baskets, and two species of polypore mushrooms with leather strings through them. One of these, the birch fungus, is known to have antibacterial properties, and was likely used for medicinal purposes. The other was a type of tinder fungus, included with part of what appeared to be a complex firestarting kit. The kit featured pieces of over a dozen different plants, in addition to flint and pyrite for creating sparks.
• Ötzi had an arrowhead lodged in one shoulder when he died, and a matching small tear on his coat.
• The arrow’s shaft had been removed before death, and close examination of the body found bruises and cuts to the hands, wrists and chest and cerebral trauma indicative of a blow to the head. One of the cuts was to the base of his thumb that reached down to the bone but had no time to heal before his death. Currently it is believed that death was caused by a blow to the head, though researchers are unsure if this was due to a fall, or from being struck with a rock by another person.
• DNA analysis revealed traces of blood from four other people on his gear: one from his knife, two from the same arrowhead, and a fourth from his coat. Interpretations of the findings were that Ötzi killed two people with the same arrow, and was able to retrieve it on both occasions, and the blood on his coat was from a wounded comrade he may have carried over his back. Ötzi’s unnatural posture in death (frozen body, face down, left arm bent across the chest) suggests that the theory of a solitary death from blood loss, hunger, cold and weakness is untenable. Rather, before death occurred and rigor mortis set in, the Iceman was turned on to his stomach in the effort to remove the arrow shaft.
• The DNA evidence suggests that he was assisted by companions who were also wounded; pollen and food analysis suggests that he was out of his home territory. The copper axe could not have been made by him alone. It would have required a concerted group tribal effort to mine, smelt and cast the copper axe head. This may indicate that Ötzi was actually part of an armed raiding party involved in a skirmish, perhaps with a neighboring tribe, and this skirmish had gone badly. It may also indicate that he was ambushed or attacked by a rival tribe’s raiding party on his way to deliver the axe.
• When the Iceman’s mitochondrial DNA was analyzed, it was discovered that he had genetic markers associated with reduced fertility. It has been speculated that this may have affected his social acceptance.
• Using a mixed sequencing procedure based on PCR amplification and 454 sequencing of pooled amplification products, Oetzi became the first complete mitochondrial-genome sequence of a prehistoric European. Compared with 115 related extant lineages from mitochondrial haplogroup K. It turns out that the Iceman belonged to a branch of mitochondrial haplogroup K1 that has not yet been identified in modern European populations. This is the oldest complete Homo sapiens mtDNA genome generated to date. Did his people just die out, become victim of genocide, or dispersed into the european population that has not yet been sampled.

OK, so maybe I didn’t list everything. The analysis of the food he ate was able to place him in a specific valley within days of his death and so on. What I find so interesting is that this is a representative of a very odd cross section of the population at the time. He travelled extensively, was a technical adept, availed himself of the best medical care, was well-dressed, probably didn’t have an immediate family, had friends who did similar activities and enemies with which he did quite a great job of fighting before he was killed. The Ozieri culture (according to mainstream archaeology) were farmers that didn’t travel, were fairly pacifist, and built dolmens. Sounds like there is much more to the reality of life back in 3200 b.c.e. than meets the archaeological spade. This was a serendipitous find, possibly an outlier, but I think it has implications for those who think that a homogenous worldwide civilization existed shortly after the last Neolithic Ice Age.

Congress is going to bail out the rascals at taxpayer’s expense. The amount may change, but the intent is obvious. After years of using our savings to leverage their profits, the gravy train has gone off the rails and they want us all to pay for the resulting dead horse. Why not declare amnesty on ALL debt? Turns out the result would be no worse if they did. Of course, it would turn out much better if they didn’t. The market must be free to fail or it is destined to be unsupportable. I found a really eye-opening paper on this very subject and would like to share it with you at the jump.

Apparently, the gods had a good grasp of finance. In old Assyrian and Babylonian tradition, every fifty years all debts were forgiven. This included monetary as well as social debts such as servitude and slavery. Later, the Hebrews extended this to every seven years, but limited the kinds of debts that would be forgiven. The principle was that the concept of usury was inherently flawed and could not be eliminated without seriously crimping trade. The Jubilee was intended to periodically reset the relationship between the rich and poor so that the rich wouldn’t become so powerful and the poor wouldn’t become so hopeless. The concept worked well for thousands of years. Only within the last few centuries has debt become an absolute.

I challenge anyone who thinks our government has our best interests at heart or who thinks the current financial system is the best system for a free market, to read this for themselves and challenge it’s assertions. We may have some common ground to discuss. Here are some exerpts:

from about 2500 to perhaps 300 BC, Babylonian and other Near Eastern rulers kept their citizens free and preserved their landholdings by annulling personal and agrarian debts when they took the throne – a true “tax holiday” – or when economic or military conditions warranted a general Clean Slate.  These Clean Slates were adopted literally, almost word for word, in the Biblical Jubilee Year if Leviticus 25. Even the same Hebrew word, deror, was used for the Babylonian andurarum proclaimed by rulers of Hammurapi’s dynasty from 2000 to 1600 BC. We ignore the fact that in the very first sermon that Jesus gave, in Nazareth (Luke 4:14–30), he unrolled the scroll of Isaiah 61 and promised that he had come “to proclaim the Year of the Lord,” the Jubilee Year.

Handel arranged the first performance of The Messiah as a benefit to raise money to bail debtors out of Irish debtors’ prisons, and every year the oratorio was repeated for that charitable purpose. Martin Luther warned about the mathematics of compound interest as the monster Cacus, devouring all. Yet Luther’s denunciations of usury are excluded from his collected works in English, and are available in this language only in Vol. III of Marx’s Capital and Book III of his Theories of Surplus Value.

The things that Jesus taught were absolutely and unqualifiably good things for the human race to learn. However, since the time of Jesus, his message has been distorted because in the eyes of history, he didn’t teach what he was “supposed” to teach.

Later, those in power or hoping to be in power (such as Saul-Paul) used his message for their own ends and this is how we now have dozens of “Christian” religions and one very corrupted Christian religion in power over Europe. Jesus predicted that. Constantine may not have converted to Christianity on his deathbed, but he sure used it for his political ends. The popes ever since have been figureheads of the Roman Empire that never fell completely; the empire just “got” religion.

Yes, Jesus had “powers” but as Arthur C. Clark said, “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from Magic” And I really don’t believe much of the “Magic Jesus” crap that Paul invented to take the ministry away from Jesus’ own apostles after he left town anyway. Jesus was an adept in more ways than one. Nice Job. He still wasn’t God.

You have to realize that some of the “miracles” attributed to Jesus can be explained by the proper application of (out of time/place) technology like the healing of the blind, and raising of the “dead”. Some are abilities that (like he said) all of us already posess, like the concept of Faith, Reiki, Kundalini, and the fact that all our minds are connected to the Akashic Record. The rest, sadly I consider to be invented by Paul and then blown out of proportion by Constantine and the Council of Nicea later on, thus inventing the concept of the “magic” Jesus.

Jesus was descended from an unique lineage to begin with. Refer to the books by Laurence Gardner “Bloodline of the Holy Grail” and Michael Baigent’s “Holy Blood, Holy Grail”. These books research the concept that the families of both Jesus mother Mary, and his “father” Joseph were descended directly from Eve through Cain on back to the very gods of Babylon, called the Annunaki (meaning: those who from heaven to earth came). This lineage is not as unique as we would expect.

Now in Genesis 6 we read about how the sons of gods took daughters of men as wives and they bare children who were called the Nephilim. So, from that we know that the “sons of god” (gods, angels, or aliens, take your pick) can mate successfully with mankind so they must not be too genetically different to begin with. Maybe Eden was just the start of this genetic mixing. This may have been the “difference” between Cro-magnon and Modern man that happened up to 150,000 years ago? Is Genesis THAT old?

Whether the two bloodlines of Mary and Joseph converged or “Jehovah” or “Gabriel” actually inseminated Mary as is told in the new testament is not as important as the fact that Jesus was groomed to be the next monarch of the planet. The Zoroastrians (magi) knew he was to be born. After he started to come of age he was sent to visit them in the East, and was later trained by the Essenes at Qumran.

Incidentally, Joseph was a Carpenter? Builder? possibly descended from the builders of the Temple of Solomon whose knowledge went to the Knights Templar and later became the society of Free Masons.

Jesus decided to strike his own deal with destiny. My belief is that eventually Jesus would have none of this “King of Kings” business and went his own way. This is why he had to be discredited by the Sanhedrin. But he did find a wife (wedding of Cana story) who was of a similar lineage, and with the help of Joseph of Arimithea and Judas Iscariot, managed to stage his death and escape his destiny. His lineage extends all across Europe today.

Jesus knew that we are all hybrids of the gods. He said so. his quotes were, “Ye are gods” and “That which I do, you can do also” and “I go to my father and your father”. The gods are our creators inasmuch as they made our DNA compatible with theirs sometime back in the early days of mankind. This story is recorded in Genesis, the Greek story of Prometheus, and many others.

After seeing the new Indiana Jones movie The Crystal Skull, I am more excited than ever about the acceptance of the Ancient Astronaut theory. People are coming out of the woodwork to find out what I believe. The Vatican observatory has announced that ETs could be out there and it’s OK to believe in them. Old friends are calling me to tell me that they saw the movie and thought of me and my weird theories. Well, they aren’t mine, but I can tell you whose they are:

The basis of the Ancient Astronaut Theory is from the book “Chariots of the Gods” by Erich von Daniken who wrote it in the early 70s. Some folks think he was debunked. I don’t agree with that, mainly because of the issues I listed in the earlier post. Rather, “Chariots” was a creative expose of alternate ways of considering evidence found all over the world. Erich put together the concept that a “Cargo Cult” those religions found on remote islands where some explorer is revered for years as a god and the villagers build effigys to what they have seen. The technology is over their head so the explorer “must” be some sort of god. Hence we have airplanes built out of coconut fronds and such honoring visitors arriving during WW2.

The idea is that if modern natives can believe that, then why couldn’t (say) Moses or Ezekiel 3500 years ago have been so impressed by the glory of Jehovah that he didn’t see a landing craft, but rather a god. With that in mind, many other strange mysteries of history and archaeology make some sense, where they didn’t before.

Now, if you follow the garden path, you realize that the puzzle pieces fall into place a little too easily. Some would say “without hard evidence” like what a trained archaeologist would need to “prove” (say) an eruption at Pompeii. However, when you step back and look at the whole picture with this view, it starts to look like mainstream archaeology has veered into such safe territory that it will never be able to accept ANY evidence of an alternate theory for fear of another “Piltdown Man” debacle.

Now I still read the Bible and other ancient writings and thanks to the multiple layers of translations, we now have a problem of context. How does anyone who knows only English, manage first to grasp King James English, that was translated from Lutheran German from Latin Vulgate, that was translated from Coptic Greek, that was translated from Aramaic and Hebrew, and in the case of the OT, translated from Babylonian and Assyrian? After all that translation, the Ark of the Covenant can just as well be a wireless communication device, charged power source, and food replicator as it could be a benign and useless object of worship, carried through the desert for 40 years.

In my opinion, we all fall for the religion too easily. As if the real Supreme Being named God has some sort of perverted “need” to be worshipped, sacrificed to, and to punish us for our sins. If you read some of my other posts, you see what I mean when I say that the Hebrew god was an opportunist. Not Omni-anything.

This is also true of the Aryan gods, Shiva and Kali in the Mahabharata. They may have been godlike in the eyes of their subjects, but they were still much too warlike to be civilized, as we hope to be someday. Oppenheimer quoted this epic when he invented the nuclear bomb. “I have become the destroyer of worlds” is what he said. The Mahabharata describes a very powerful weapon used against the enemy, and flying machines (called vimanas) used for travel in ancient India. I challenge you to look it up.

The Mayan calendar ends in 2012. Not because we are all gonna die, but because it is the end of the cycle they were plotting. This is the point in time where our solar system aligns with the plane of the ecliptic of the milky way galaxy. Now how did the Mayans figure that out for themselves? surely not by looking through a telescope or plotting the stars. They received their knowledge from somewhere else.

The Dogon have legends that their gods came from the sky and that they came from the dog star. This is Sirius b. They also say the star was a binary. We could only prove the truth of that recently. Meanwhile, this African tribe already knew.

I could go on, but think about how similar the symbol of our medical profession, the Cadeuseus is to a strand of DNA. Now consider that it depicts a staff or tree with snakes intertwining. This is the riddle of the garden of Eden. Can we decipher it and discover our heritage?

If you want to dig around and find more. I can guarantee there is a fertile field. Just don’t get too wrapped around accepted scientific or religious dogma, or you may be falling into the trap laid by the authors of the Greek Mysteries. Some folks have known bits of the truth for centuries. I doubt even the Vatican has all the puzzle pieces.

Don’t believe everything you see on the Internet. Rather, try to see new evidence on its own merit, as a child sees it (was it Jesus Christ who said that?) and the scales will fall away, revealing the truth in one form or another. This has to be scientific in some way or it is impossible to quantify. however, the evidence may just not still exist. The time frames may be in the millions, rather than thousands of years and even a stone wall disappears entirely during that time. I rather hope that if the real evidence is yet to be found, that it does end up on the floor of the Smithsonian Museum for all to see. However, I suspect that it won’t.

Just call me jaded.

At a recent Meetup I attended, it impressed me how open minded and respectful the group was. We had a fairly intelligient and orderly discussion that included nearly a third of the folks present; which in my experience, is quite a feat of restraint, especially considering the strong wills and strident beliefs that most AAT supporters are bound to have. What was the most impressive was the kindness and respect shown by the careful wording of counter theories and objections, as the points were discussed without rancor.

However, I was also amazed to hear so many folks lamenting that "things are so bad now" as if somehow, all of mankind's great advances in technology, social rights, and information circulation have made things worse, rather than better for the average human being.

Sadly, it is true that the availability of information overload, largely in the form of sports, news, and reality television have combined with a profound capitalism to make the average person satiated, dependent, and compliant with the current failed public policies. We are “linked in” to the ability to consume goods and information on a scale unparalleled in the history of mankind. This is all being carefully tailored, not just for our own needs, but that of the financial and power elite who run corporations and governments, while the common public goes about their lives with the illusion of enlightened society. Notwithstanding, injustice continues in the world. The poor are still poor, wars still rage, people die from greed and retribution, bad choices for energy are still pillaging our planet, lies are still told, and ignorance still thrives…so the story goes.

However, Mankind has only recently been granted an unprecedented gift. We have more freedom than ever not just to choose the amount and type of inputs we allow into our lives, but also to act on those inputs to enhance our life and watch the rest of mankind do the same.

Consider if you will how over the last 40,000 years of human history, we have all had the same relative brain capacity as we do now, and we have had one demigod after another (whether alien, hybrid, or fellow human) subjecting MOST of mankind to varying degrees of physical mental, and spiritual captivity. This has been decreasing over the centuries but only in the last 100 years or less is the subjugation of others considered a crime. We have seen outright slavery outlawed in most countries of the world. Technology has allowed childbirth to become much less life-threatening. Women are as free as men to vote, choose, and lead (except in decreasingly fewer backward religious countries). Immunizations and antibiotics have cured thousands of diseases. Many minorities have worldwide and national advocacy. Religious extermination has been banned and perpetrators are convicted of crimes against humanity. Children are protected from abuse now more than ever, sometimes to the exclusion of parental rights. Revenge, retribution, and even dueling are now considered illegal. Hate crimes are prosecuted. Even political impropriety crimes are increasingly becoming punishable. In short, we have only recently collectively become “able” to effectively set ourselves against the wrongs of this world. We prosecute crimes against other beings (human and otherwise) with increasing accuracy and decreasing tolerance. No longer can criminals isolate themselves and their victims from scrutiny.

Markedly faster communication has fostered greater awareness and increased knowledge for so many more “common” people than ever, who in turn accept a decreasing amount of abuse and falshoods from their peers, leaders, and officials. The “evil” media must compete with the “open source” Internet to provide our news and it really seems to me that they are losing by comparison. The expensive universities are competing with the “free” Internet to provide training and knowledge to the world. Even the religions of the world are under scrutiny for providing credible answers and a safe environment for those who choose to believe.

Generally, we no longer wonder whether the old superstitions such as walking under ladders and accidentally breaking mirrors will cause us to develop some unnamed incurable disease or suffer a spate of bad luck. Or that “God” will strike us down if we question the motives or competency of our government or church leaders. Less often do we pass judgement on our peers for their ideas, however strange or odd. And no longer do we gather in scared mobs outside their doorsteps to tar and feather them for these beliefs. Oh, it can still happen, but only a few late bloomers are left that allow such things. I predict that even the most backward will find it increasingly difficult to support intolerance and savagery of any kind.

Knowledge is indeed power. We do not have to listen to the misdirection and confusion that streams from the popular media. Thanks (strangely) to the government of the U.S. DARPA program and many universities of the world, we have the Internet which allows anyone to tell the world anything whether true or not. This gives us the freedom to choose for ourselves between truth and falsehood and to compare that information with anyone we choose. Consequently, I believe that the isolation in which ignorance and fear depends will eventually disappear. This is why I believe strongly in the concept of net neutrality which states that no one authority can restrict or give preference to any types of web sites, even if the capitalism and pornography aspect of the internet mucks things up here and there. Losing this “freedom” would be a huge blow to our individual freedoms of thought. It would mean that the media would regain control over our lives.

In summary, contrary to the popular belief, my opinion is that life is gradually better for an increasing number of humans. Sometimes it seems like we hear about so many more disasters and evil deeds nowadays, but this results because our ability to communicate has increased due to the internet, and cheaper and better communications around the world. 70 years ago, newspapers were our only news outlet. Radio, Internet, and now cellphones have eclipsed the printed word and thus dares to challenge the stranglehold that the rich and powerful have on us. Freedom has always been the right to choose our own destiny. We should use it.

The Valley of Fire derives its name from red sandstone formations, which were formed from sand dunes during the Jurassic period. Prehistoric users of the Valley of Fire were the Anasazi who were farmers from the nearby fertile Moapa Valley. The timespan of approximate occupation has been dated from 300 B.C. to 1150 A.D. Their visits probably involved hunting, food gathering, and religious ceremonies, although scarcity of water would have limited the length of their stay. Fine examples of rock art left by these ancient peoples can be found at several sites within the park. The most numerous being along Petroglyph Trail, leading to Mouse Tank.

The Temple of Hathor at Dendera, on the Nile north of Luxor, is one of the latest Egyptian temples. Dedicated to the wife of the god Horus, it was built in Roman times and depictions show Roman emperors alongside Egyptian gods. Along with Abydos, which is further north, Dendera is a day trip from Luxor. The village of Dendera is situated 60km north of Luxor on the west bank of the Nile, opposite the provincial town of Qena, where the Nile Valley road branches off to the Red Sea town of Hurghada. It’s ancient name was Lunet and it was also known as Tentyris during classical times.
 This temple may depict the usage of electricity, magnetism, and the principles of the modern light bulb.

The Temple was built between 30 BC and 14 AD, but it was built on top of an older temple, the date of which remains unclear. It is probable that the design of the later temple is based on that of the older one. It was known as the ‘Castle of the Sistrum’ or ‘Pr Hathor’, which means House of Hathor.

Hathor was the goddess of love, joy and beauty. The walls, rooms and roof are extraordinarily well preserved. It’s supporting pillars, which had capitals sculpted in the image of Hathor, were defaced by the Christians. The stone steps of the spiral staircase are time-worn but still used to ascend to the roof, where there is a small chapel decorated with intact Hathor-headed columns.

Dendera was an ancient healing center, comparable to a Greek Asklepion or the Catholic Lourdes. Hathor, who was the wife of Horus, was the goddess of the sky, fertility and healing, and the rituals performed by her priestesses included the use of a sistrum, or rattle.

Similar to other temple sites in Egypt, the complex at Dendera marks the location of a very old holy place. An indication of the antiquity of the temple site is given by the astronomical alignment of the main temple to the constellation Gamma Draconis before 5000BC. Early texts refer to a Pre-dynastic temple that was rebuilt during the Old Kingdom, and further developed by New Kingdom pharaohs including Thutmose III, Amenhotep III, and Ramses II and III. The present structure dates to the Greek and Roman periods, with the sanctuary and its surrounding chapels built by the later Ptolemies in the 1st century BC. Dendera was the chief place for the worship of Hathor, who is variously seen as the patroness of earthly love, the goddess of healing, and the great feminine source of all nourishment (like the Hindu goddess Kali, Hathor also has her terrible aspects; in one ancient myth she is a raging lioness sent to punish mankind for its rebellion).

Beneath the Temple of Hathor at Dendera there is a crypt with walls inscribed with some very strange reliefs. Krassa and Habeck describe the site in their book “Light for the Pharaoh”:

“The walls are decorated with human figures next to bulb-like objects reminiscent of oversized light bulbs. Inside these “bulbs” there are snakes in wavy lines. The snakes’ pointed tails issue from a lotus flower, which, without much imagination, can be interpreted as the socket of the bulb. Something similar to a wire leads to a small box on which the air god is kneeling. Adjacent to it stands a two-armed djed pillar as a symbol of power, which is connected to the snake. Also remarkable is the baboon-like demon holding two knives in his hands, which are interpreted as a protective and defensive power.”

 François Daumas described the easternmost of the five crypts along the southern end, telling us that:

“In the last room, one sees, carefully carved on the Southern wall, a falcon with detailed feathers, preceded by a snake emerging from a lotus blossom within a boat. Whereas the whole of the temple is constructed of sandstone, to facilitate a relief of fine quality there was placed in the wall, at the level of the figures, a block of limestone suitable for very detailed work, and of this the artist took full and perfect advantage. These reliefs are cosmological representations. The snake that comes out of the lotus is equated with the shining deity Harsamtawy (Ihy) as he appears for the first time out of the primordial sea. He is again represented near the bottom of the crypt in the form of two snakes also coming forth, but this time wrapped in lotuses like protective envelopes. Sometimes those that were on the Mesktet-barque collaborated with Horus; other times the Mandjet-barque with its crew helped to reveal the god: Djed raises his body, a supreme manner of worship, attendant of the god’s prestigious ka. The statuettes appear to have been used for the New Year celebration and the festival of Harsamtawy. It is likely that on these solemn occasions these objects were transported to the vault [i.e. the room above the crypt].”

Here is a translation of the text of the south wall:

“Resomtus is alive with gloss in the sky (and) lives at the day of the New Year celebration. 
He lights up in its house in the night of the child in his nest, by donating the light to the country from the birth bricks. The sky is jubilant, the earth is pleased and the God chapels is glad, when he appears in his chamber in his procession barge at his beautiful celebration of the New Year. The God with his disk has come to see him. Nehebkau gives him reputation, and the goddess with her disk, with godly body, rejuvenates him in his sanctuary. Tchnt tpjt jnr  is content because of her majesty. She praises Re because of him with praise for his Ka, with wine from schfjt and meat bits on the altar before him. The “land-of-Atum” is prepared with his most distinguished plan, as Hu and Sia are subordinated to him. He may protect the son of Re, forever. ”

Electrical engineers have studied the design and determined that the carvings on the temple walls actually represent a type of lightbulb called a Crookes tube. Chris Dunn explains in his book, “The Giza Power Plant”;

“When the [Crookes] tube is in operation, the ray originates where the cathode electrical wire enters the tube to the opposite end. In the temple picture, the electron beam is represented as an outstretched serpent. The tail of the serpent begins where a cable from the energy box enters the tube, and the serpent’s head touches the opposite end. In Egyptian art, the serpent was the symbol of divine energy.…  ”

The temple seems to show a various renditions of this tube. Another temple drawing shows one tube, on the extreme left of the picture, to be operating under normal conditions. But with the second tube, situated closest to the energy box to the right, an interesting experiment has been portrayed. Michael R. Freeman, an electric and electromagnetic engineer, believes that the solar disc on Horus’ head is a Van de Graaf generator, an apparatus which collects static electricity. A baboon is portrayed holding a metal knife between the Van de Graaf-solar disc and the second tube. Under actual conditions, the static charge built up on the knife from the generator would cause the electron beam inside the Crookes tube to be diverted from the normal path, because the negative knife and negative beam would repel each other. In the temple picture, the serpent’s head in the second tube is turned away from the end of the tube, repulsed by the knife in the baboon’s hand.

According to Dunn, all aspects of the Denderah reliefs correspond exactly to modern electrical specifications. The bulb size and shape, the position of the elements relative to each other, and even the wiring patterns and insulators all match their modern counterparts. The arrangement and variations in the examples of how to manipulate the electrical energy of the bulb is also strongly reminiscent of modern scientific diagrams, the only major difference being the use of symbolic imagery, such as gods and animals, to communicate certain concepts. — Source: Mysterious World.

But if there were electric lights, how were they powered? There seems to be another out of place artifact that has been given some attention, the Baghdad Battery. This jar-shaped artifact is designed in the configuration of a crude but accurate battery. Using wine or citrus juice as an electrolyte, if it had been connected to others, it could have done some serious electrical voltage.

 On the Discovery channel program Mythbusters, the Baghdad battery “myth” was put to the test.

On Mythbusters’ 29th episode (which aired on March 23, 2005), the Baghdad battery “myth” was put to the test. Ten hand-made terracotta jars were fitted to act as batteries. Lemon juice was chosen as the electrolyte to activate the electrochemical reaction between the copper and iron. (Oddly enough, it was discovered that a single lemon produced more voltage than one of the batteries). When all of the batteries were linked together, they produced upwards to 4 volts. Then, the major question was, “What were these ancient batteries used for?”

The show’s research staff discovered three possible reasons: Electroplating, Medical pain relief (through Acupuncture), and Religious experience. It was discovered that the “linked” batteries indeed had sufficient power to electroplate a small token. For acupuncture, the batteries produced a “random” pulse that could be felt through the needles; however, it began to produce a painful burning sensation when the batteries were grounded to two needles at once. For the religious experience aspect of the batteries, a replica of the fabled Ark of the Covenant was constructed, complete with two angels. Instead of linking the angels’ golden wings to the low power batteries, an electric fence generator was connected. When touched, the wings produced a strong feeling of tightness in the chest. Although the batteries themselves had not been used, it was surmised that, due to the apparent lack of knowledge of electricity, any form of electrical sensation from them could equate to the “divine presence” in the eyes of ancient people. In the end, the Baghdad battery myth was found “plausible” on all three accounts.
